Please discuss what you would like to have in the servers (maps and how to break the servers down)

Okay well i thing i can only find 1 thing to say.
The votemap server should no way have 1Gig of maps. There is just noone gona join a server that is not already popular, and if someone does not know the map or if its big people usually don't bother joining.

I would say keep it simple and maybe make it a 24/7 CAL/CEVO server where you put in all the league maps and all the stock maps. And also downgrade the slots from 40 to no more then 20.

Ohh and deff make the iceworld smaller holy fuck 40 slots oO hahaha. make it like <20

Lol I have to agree with Fresh. If you make a cal/cevo maps server make it like 18 slots as well. And the amount of maps is redonkulous. I hate the most is downloading maps and if they are continuosly being switched then it's just annoying. Maybe you can keep an eye out at gametracker on the most popular map vote servers and see what their ration on maps is. Which ones get the most use. Oh and if you search map vote in gametracker only 2 servers show up. Just a fair warning they don't do well.

humm i see i know what you mean about to many maps, the thing is though we have other servers so it isnt a problem to make a cal/cevo server as for slots yah we have to lower those way to many atm

Make the pub a 20 slot. If you have active admins, and the server is better quality and between 16-22 slots, the server will fill up.

i personally prefer about 18 as a max... but thats my personal preference.

make sure there's no extra- addons or too many wav or downloadable files.

Reason for being is this : one, they lag the server and make the server not function as well.

two: if people have to download too much shit, they won't join. People aren't very patient.


also, consider having a Central server so people from all over can play with about the same ping or reduced lag. I play from seattle and I am pinging about 110 right now constant to the server.

I love playing with easties, but the lag makes me cranky after a while.

thanks for the input Emma, reason for not having a central server though is it's incredibly hard to find a decent priced dedicated box in chicago so we found one as close as we could I'm in NY and the server is in Ontario, Canada right across the border from me and I ping high to it as well.

Chicago would be a place of choice though we have the vent in chicago and our left4 dead as well. But unfortunatley the main box is more affordable where it is right now with no other income except Noir's and my own wallets ( Mostly Noir's) going into it we don't get too many donations (Would be nice though ..HINT, HINT, WINK, WINK)

Until that day comes where we can afford another we have to suffice with this location.

Makes sense. if I could donate, i would. but for the next year, were on a really, really tight budget here. (we pay 470 for our deticated business t1 line, my husbands getting a new job, and, were doing IVF to have a baby and run the risk of twins. any money I can save up has to go for emergencies.) LOL

Also I wasn't saying for you to donate lol was merely stating that no one donates, You've only just joined and also wow on the T1. Lets just host a server at your house for those west coasters haha.
