    Default Donations!!

We swore we'd never beat a dead horse...but, it looked like too much fun so we did it anyways.

I mean...we swore we'd never do this, but it's come to the point that it needs to be done.

Donations. As of recently, with these tough economical times...jk.

In order to keep the community alive, we need to start receiving some donations,
now, we're not saying you have to send us 25$ or anything,
but SOMETHING would be better than nothing.

The way we look at it is like this, right now,
there's ONE person paying for everything,
The Dedicated Box that hosts our CSS Scrim Servers, Pub Server, TF2 Server, L4D server etc.
They are also paying for ventrilo and the webhosting to keep the website and forums up.

We feel it to be a bit unfair,
and now we're reaching out to you guys to ask for help.

Hypothetically speaking, lets say in order to pay for everything,
    the grand total is 70$

We easily have more than 10 active members,
so if even a few of you could donate like 5-10$ it would help.

I'm going to start donating a minimum of 30$ a month myself,
that means that we only need to make up 40$.
So if we had 8 of the members donate only 5$ that would be a great help.

The person that's paying for everything right now has been doing so for a few years now,
and I think we owe it to them to give something back.

Now, don't feel like your just throwing your money away either,
if you are able to help out with 5$ or more, you will receive at the least,
ventrilo admin and server admin to a server of your choice
(That doesn't mean you can abuse your power) it's just a little incentive to get people to donate.
If you donate 20$ or more, you will receive admin for every server and full admin in ventrilo.
You'll also be entered into a Compulsive Community Draw!

Compulsive Gaming will soon have a store featuring Hats, Shirts, Hoodies etc
and other cool things you can buy, but donators will
automatically be entered into a draw for the end of the month for one of these products.

Please help our community stay alive!

Why would they be nerdy? I think a sweet ass hoodie with a CG logo would be dope. We need like a trademark / image though.

    Or mousepads and shit too.

Merchandise would only be a very small amount of donation since most vendors require a large chunk of the cost to make those items. Don't get me wrong I would love to have all that merchandise as well I'd love a hat too +).
But the only way we can survive is to get actual donations on a regular basis. We now only have 30days left on our Dedicated Box. Unless we get these donations to keep paying for it. The servers affected by that would be our private css servers as well as the css pubs, and the tf2 server. Our L4D server is payed separately as well as vent and the new BC2 server. Although those servers could be affected as well in the future. Everything costs money and not everyone has unlimited funds to pay for these things.

Well said dean but you left out the tf2 server which would be affected as well. I added it to your post

The fact is guys without donations the servers get affected and its hard to pay for a server month after month
with no help as dedicated servers aren't cheap.

I donated $10 about 2-3 weeks ago, and I think it was Chewie that donated the other $3+, but since then there's been nothing else. Once I get settled in the Great White North I'll probably be able to donate on a more regular basis like Phayze will.

The more important thing I think we need is participation and server use. If no one is playing in the servers, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to pay for them. We may want to be more aggressive in recruiting people AND making sure they stick around. I noticed a lot of people visit the forums and Ventrilo server after being invited by a cG member, but then a week or two later they're gone. I realize we can't make everyone stay, but we should try to be more proactive in building the community to establish a large, committed user-base to make our servers and donations worthwhile.

well said Jibbles and I couldn't agree more, Me and Noir were feeling the same way about the pubs that they aren't being utilized as they should. That's why we thought real hard as to whether or not it was worth it to save that server or put money towards something more useful to the community.

I tried with the CSS thing, but it never picked up, probably because after about 8 people joined the server it lagged and the reg was terrid.

As I've been playing CS pretty much since I was 10 or so, I don't think I'm ever going to stop, but similar to media, entertainment and anything else regarding advertisement, you have to go where the money is, you have to go where the PEOPLE are.

That being said, maybe (if we discuss it further) we should ditch the CSS servers and focus on newer games such as MW2 and BC2. Focus on whats "hot" or "trendy" right now, and after we've established a baseline of strong committed members, then we should expand. I pay 32$ a month for our Hard Core BC2 Server and I plan on donating 25-30$ a month to the community via the donate button, but if we ditch the current CSS servers, I could either use my server as a donation, or cancel the server and donate straight $$$ to the community and the founders can decide what to do with it, it really doesn't matter to me.

Take those idiotic Vulgar Society turd knocking fuck wads for example - Jibbles, LifeLine and I were pretty much the first few people in there when the game came out, they had maybe 5 members total who all played at the same time, their server is almost constantly full (during peek hours) and they have a fairly large ''clan'' now.

I think if a few of us,

Jibbles, LifeLine, Myself, Deano, NightShift and anyone else who has the game could commit to spending a certain amount of time in the server each night we'd have the potential to explode in our numbers.

Maybe we should recruit everyone who joins the server (everyone whos willing anyways) and sure we'll get a few retards but we need to build a fan base type deal first right?

    Anyways, just a few thoughts.

Jibbles, like Deano said, very well put...it's what I've been saying all along lol. Hopefully with the popularity of the new game we can expand and fully utilize the servers we have at the moment.
