IRC INTRODUCTION
For those that are new to our community IRC is a requirement it's not a large request, irc is low on resources and is barely noticeable to your pc.
For those that already know how to run irc please idle and perform our IRC channel @ #CoMpulsive on irc.gamesurge.net
The Tag for our irc is cG`NAME those that tag up properly will be "opped" those that fail to do so will not be.
The Purpose for using IRC is to increase our reputation and awareness to our community it is an advertising tool as well as a messaging system.

REGISTERING AN ACCOUNT ON GAMESURGE
Go to http://gamesurge.net/ and register an account.
They will email you with a login / identification command, don't delete it. Note: You may want to have your tag in your registration name.
By registering, it ensures no-one else can take your name while you're on the server / gamesurge.

INSTALLING THE CLIENT:
Go download mIRC.

You may not actually need to goto the mIRC site. Search google
As for the installers, you should basically be able to "NEXT" your way through each installation.

CONFIGURING mIRC:
SELECTING OUR SERVER(s)

Goto TOOLS >> OPTIONS >> CONNECT >> SERVER

If you see Gamesurge in the group below, highlight Random Gamesurge Server and hit select. If you DO NOT see it, we'll need to create it. Click ADD

Decription: GameSurge
IRC Server: irc.gamesurge.net
Ports: 6667
Group: GameSurge

::Add::

You should see Gamesurge in the group below, highlight Random Gamesurge Server and hit select.

SETTING UP OUR NAME & JOIN COMMANDS:
Click TOOLS >> OPTIONS > CONNECT
Enter a fake name, email etc., Nickname of your choosing. Uncheck invisible mode. Goto the next tab, SERVERS, under the connect category.

Click TOOLS >> OPTIONS > CONNNECT > OPTIONS
-Make sure Connect on startup is CHECKED
-Check Enable perform on connect
Click PERFORM > goto Gamesurge
(The -n minimizes the window making things cleaner when loading up. Very nice if connected to more then 1 server.)

/mode +x <--Add This to protect your name and auth.

/join -n #CoMpulsive
/join -n #sourcescrim
/join -n #sourceringer

Okay now mIRC will be out of the way.. Back to the main screen.

MAKING TIMERS:
Though you can use them whenever, the only time I've really used them is when needing to advertise - looking for active members. If you don't want to bind these to keys, you can type them into IRC manually if you wish.

The basic timer goes like this:
<#channel/person you're sending to>

Yours may go like this..

F8 >> /timer? off
F9 >> /timer 0 35 /msg #sourceringer need 1 ringer yadayada
F10 >> /timer 0 65 /msg #sourcetryout Need someone for a tryout
F11 >> /timer 0 65 /msg #sourcescrim need 3 for a scrim.
F12 >> /timer 0 65 /msg #sourceinvite Need 1 leet for a real scrim.

So, to conclude on timers...
If we had entered mIRC and wanted to start advertisingin the selected channels at such times, we'd just hit F9-F12 and wait for incoming PM's. Note F8 though, the ? is a wildcard.
Hitting it will turn off all timers between 0-9. If you had more then 9 timers going, the command /timer1? off would be used.

LOGGING / Some final checks:
Disconnect and reconnect to make sure its getting right into GameSurge. Make sure your account is getting auth'd and is hiding your netmask. eg.
13:28:22 Deano.user.gamesurge is now your hidden host
then right click on each of the channels you're in / connected to, goto logging and select OFF. it creates text files you wont need unless your me

To end it, lets spice it up with a background. Right Click in the main window, not the status window goto background and select a picture.
